Chief Consultant
Linda Kinsinger

 


Linda Kinsinger, MD, MPH is the Chief Consultant for Preventive Medicine.  She joined the NCP in October 2002 after being on the faculty of the School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for eleven years. She was named Director of the Center in November 2005.

Dr. Kinsinger received her undergraduate degree from Iowa State University in 1972 and her medical degree from the College of Medicine at the University of Iowa in 1979. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Minnesota. She practiced general internal medicine with Park Nicollet Medical Center in Minneapolis-St. Paul from 1982 to 1987.

Dr. Kinsinger moved to North Carolina and completed her Master of Public Health degree in the Department of Health Behavior and Health Education in the School of Public Health at the University of North Carolina in 1990. She also completed preventive medicine residency training at UNC in 1991 and joined the faculty in the Department of Medicine. She was Director of the UNC Preventive Medicine Residency Program, Co-Director of the Program on Prevention in the School of Medicine, and Director of the Health Care and Prevention MPH concentration in the Public Health Leadership Program in the School of Public Health. In addition, she had an active group of patients in a UNC community-based practice. She also conducted research in implementing clinical preventive services in community practices.

Dr. Kinsinger holds adjunct faculty appointments in the Department of Social Medicine in the UNC School of Medicine and in the Public Health Leadership Program and the Department of Health Behavior and Health Education in the UNC School of Public Health, as well as in the Department of Medicine at Duke University. She serves as a member of the Residency Advisory Committees for the UNC Preventive Medicine Residency Program and the Duke University occupational Medicine Residency Program.
