Tools for Employee Wellness

A new resource on Workplace Stress, from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health has been added to Additional Resources.

Interest in Employee Wellness from VHA staff and leadership has been growing for the past several years across the VHA.  The need to address preventable risk factors is of interest due to the high prevalence of chronic disease and the costs associated with caring for patients with chronic diseases.  In particular, obesity has received much recent attention and become a top priority in VHA due to the burden of illness associated with obesity.  The National Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (NCP) supports and encourages the initiation and operation of employee wellness programs throughout the VHA.

On this page you will find a Start-Up Guide that describes the steps involved in establishing an employee wellness program and offers advice from seasoned Veterans Healthcare Administration (VHA) wellness leaders.  Other materials offer ideas and guidelines for employee wellness activities, needs assessments, presentations and other resources.  New materials will be added as they become available.  VA staff seeking information specific to the VA should access the NCP intranet website.
